The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of Anambra pupil, Mmesoma Ejikeme, from taking any of the board’s examinations for a period of three years.

Telescope.ng gathered that JAMB maintains its stance that the pupil forged her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, following thorough investigations into the matter.

The board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed this in a statement released on Tuesday.

Benjamin emphasized that Ejikeme’s UTME result has been withdrawn, and she is prohibited from sitting for JAMB exams for the next three years.

Addressing the issue, Benjamin reiterated JAMB’s earlier position that the UTME result presented by Ejikeme was fraudulent, stating that the candidate attempted to distort the truth.

He further explained that the QR code on the result slip exposed the actual owner of the result, which Ejikeme manipulated. Benjamin urged the public to scan the QR code on the result slip to verify its authenticity.

He also clarified that JAMB ceased issuing Notification of Result slips after the 2021 UTME due to falsification by candidates. Since 2022, JAMB has been providing actual UTME RESULT Slips, featuring the photograph of each candidate, to prevent fraudulent activities.

Benjamin acknowledged the negative publicity surrounding the controversy but assured that JAMB remains undeterred, as similar fraudulent claims have been encountered in the past.

He recalled an incident in 2021 involving a candidate named John Chinedu Ifesinachi, who initially threatened legal action against JAMB but eventually confessed to his wrongdoing.

JAMB expressed regret over the involvement of certain “unwholesome” individuals who are leading Ejikeme down a destructive path.

The board called on these individuals to reconsider their actions as their schemes will be exposed. JAMB reiterated its commitment to transparency and emphasized that the truth will prevail.

JAMB, therefore, urged the public to critically examine the issue and avoid spreading fake news.
