Bamidele, Umahi, and Ndume elected as Senate principal officers

The Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, has made an announcement revealing the names of the leaders of the majority caucus in the 10th Senate.

Telescope.ng reports that Opeyemi Bamidele, the lawmaker representing Ekiti Central, has been appointed as the Senate Majority Leader.

Senator Dave Umahi from Ebonyi South has been named the Deputy Majority Leader, while Senator Ali Ndume from Borno South has been appointed as the Chief Whip.

Senator Lola Ashiru representing Kwara South has been designated as the Deputy Whip.

Akpabio stated: “After consultations, the All Progressives Congress caucus of the Senate has selected their leadership, which will play a crucial role in conducting other business in the chamber. I am pleased to announce that, through consensus, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele will serve as the Majority Leader. Sen. Mohammed Ndume (APC-Borno) will be the Chief Whip of the 10th Senate.

Sen. David Umahi (APC-Ebonyi), with your consent, will act as the Deputy Leader, and Sen. Lola Ashiru (APC-Kwara) will be the Deputy Chief Whip.”

Following the announcement, the Senate immediately went into a closed session.
