MINILS: Danbatta awarded fellowship for empowering national workforce

The Michael Imoudu National Institute of Labour Studies (MINILS) has honoured Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), by conferring upon him the award of Fellowship of the Nigeria Institute of Labour (NIL) under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the Commission and the national workforce.

The conferment took place during the 40th Anniversary/Founders Day of the Institute in Abuja.

Isa Aremu, the Director-General of MINILS, praised Danbatta and his team for their exemplary contributions to the betterment of the Commission and the national workforce.

Danbatta, represented by Usman Malah, the Director of Human Capital and Administration at the Commission, emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of Nigerian workers through increased access to affordable telecom services.

He stressed that a digitally skilled and informed workforce is crucial for Nigeria’s productivity and development goals. Danbatta also assured continued support for empowering NCC staff and improving skills, education, and broadband infrastructure to stimulate job creation and enhance national productivity.

MINILS DG, Aremu, commended the Commission for promoting the deployment of telecommunications services to boost productivity and efficiency across various sectors of the economy.

He highlighted Danbatta’s pivotal role in advancing the nation’s digital space and acknowledged his commitment to bridging the digital divide and creating employment opportunities in the telecommunications sector, earning him accolades nationwide.

The anniversary celebrations included the conferment of the NIL Fellowship on other Chief Executives and Heads of Human Resources divisions of government agencies, along with NCC Management executives.

This event not only celebrated past accomplishments but also set the stage for a brighter future, emphasizing the importance of fair labour practices, knowledge, and continued collaboration among various government agencies.

In addition to the Fellowship of NIL, Danbatta holds fellowships in several reputable organizations, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Renewable and Alternative Energy Society, the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, and the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
