Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital After Lagos–Ibadan Crash
Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital following injuries sustained in a road accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Joshua, who was admitted after the crash that occurred on December 29, 2025, was treated at Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, and later deemed clinically fit to continue recovery from home.
In a joint statement issued on Thursday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, and the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, confirmed his discharge.
The statement also conveyed the condolences of the Lagos and Ogun State governments to the families of Lateef Ayodele and Gami Cina, who lost their lives in the accident. It noted that Joshua and his mother visited a Lagos funeral home to pay their final respects ahead of the victims’ repatriation.
Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State expressed appreciation for public concern following the incident and acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the period.
The statement further commended the medical personnel involved in Joshua’s treatment, describing their professionalism and care as commendable.
