MAFAB Communications has officially launched its 5G services in Nigeria, bringing high-speed connectivity to eager users across the country.

Telescope.ng reports that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has debunked misleading rumours on social media that falsely claimed MAFAB had not rolled out its 5G services despite obtaining a license.

MAFAB Communications, one of the two successful companies to secure a 5G license during the NCC’s transparent 5G Auction held on December 13, 2021, fulfilled all necessary requirements, including a payment of $273.6 million in February 2022. Following this, the company formally received its 5G license on February 22, 2022.

True to its commitment and in line with rollout conditions, MAFAB publicly launched its 5G services in Abuja on January 24, 2023, and in Lagos on January 26, 2023. The initial launch covered six major cities: Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kano, and Kaduna.

The NCC has diligently monitored MAFAB’s progress and regularly received updates on the deployment of essential infrastructure to support its service offerings, as specified in its operating license. The Commission assures the public and all stakeholders that there is no basis for the false and misleading information circulating about MAFAB’s 5G rollout.

Reuben Muoka, Director of Public Affairs, reaffirmed the accuracy of these developments and encouraged Nigerians to embrace the positive impact of MAFAB’s 5G services on the nation’s connectivity landscape. With this milestone, MAFAB Communications is poised to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s technological advancement and the provision of faster and more reliable internet services to its citizens.
