Oshiomhole reveals what would have happened if he had lost senatorial election

The lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has expressed gratitude for his victory during the National Assembly elections held on Saturday, February 25.
Telescope.ng reports that while seaking at a post-inauguration/thank you party held in his honour at his country home in Iyamho, Etsako West local government of Edo State, Oshiomhole reflected on the support he received from the people of Edo North.
Oshiomhole acknowledged that his opponent’s harassment would have been inevitable had he lost the election. He credited the people of Edo North for their trust and belief in his ability to replicate the achievements he made as the state governor, adding that their overwhelming support demonstrated their desire for progress and development within the district.
“If you had voted against me, I cannot fathom what would have ensued. My blood pressure would have soared, assuming I even survived,” Oshiomhole shared, expressing his relief at the outcome. “The jubilation by my opponent would have been a torment, with attempts to silence me and push me out. However, you, the Afemai people, rejected that. For this, I extend my heartfelt gratitude.”
Oshiomhole also highlighted the significance of his victory by emphasizing that several sitting governors across the country had failed to secure senatorial positions.
Despite having left office seven years prior, he expressed immense gratitude for the continued support and trust placed in him by his constituents.
During the elections, Oshiomhole actively campaigned for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging voters to cast their ballots in his favour.
He emphasized that a victory for Tinubu as president would have a transformative impact on Nigeria and, consequently, Edo State.
Oshiomhole stated, “If you were to give me just one vote, I would have requested it be for Tinubu. It was better for him to win as president, even if I were to lose as a senator. Today, I am thrilled to announce that in each of these six local governments, in every ward where Bola Tinubu emerged victorious, I also emerged triumphant.”
The Senator pledged to carry the electoral results from the Afemai people as a testament to their support and dedication. He expressed his intention to present the results to President Tinubu, showcasing the unwavering support of his constituents for the president’s vision.
Oshiomhole commended Honorable Dennis Idahosa and Honorable Billy Osawaru for their instrumental roles in delivering their respective constituencies to President Tinubu.
He emphasized his commitment to representing Edo North while recognizing his obligation to the overall development of Edo State, aligning with Tinubu’s vested interest in the state’s progress.
He expressed his determination to utilize his position to ensure that the district and the state receive the dividends of democracy under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
