WhatsApp introduces new feature allowing editing of sent messages

WhatsApp has recently announced the introduction of a new feature that enables users to edit their messages within a 15-minute window after sending them.
Telescope.ng gathered that the global rollout of this feature will take place over the next few weeks, giving senders the ability to modify their messages shortly after hitting the send button.
According to a blog post on Monday, May 22, WhatsApp explained that users can access the editing tool by long-pressing on the message and selecting the “edit” option from the drop-down menu.
The post emphasized the convenience of this feature, stating, “For the moments when you make a mistake, or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages.”
The edited messages will be labeled with the term “edited” to notify the recipient of the correction without displaying the edit history.
WhatsApp also reassured users that the end-to-end encryption, which protects their personal messages, media, and calls, extends to the edits made through this feature.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, shared the news of this change on his Facebook page.
Other competing social media platforms such as Telegram and Signal have already offered message editing capabilities to their users.
This message editing feature is the latest addition to WhatsApp’s array of features. In April, the platform introduced an automatic status posting feature to Facebook stories, allowing users to share their statuses seamlessly.
Additionally, WhatsApp implemented automatic security codes to enhance account protection against hacking attempts.
