VeryDarkMan Rejects Lagos Police Invitation, Demands Independent Probe into AIG Moshood Jimoh Over Alleged Corruption and Murder Frame-Up Claims

LAGOS, Nigeria – Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has rejected an invitation from the Lagos State Police Command, alleging that the summons is part of a coordinated attempt to silence him over his public allegations of corruption and abuse of office against Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Moshood Jimoh.

The development marks the latest twist in a controversy that has dominated public discourse in recent weeks after VeryDarkMan released a series of videos and documentary-style presentations accusing the senior police officer of orchestrating what he described as a plot to frame a businessman, Ahmed, in a murder investigation through coerced witness statements.

Background to the Police Invitation

The controversy began when VeryDarkMan published videos alleging that, while serving as Commissioner of Police in Lagos, AIG Moshood Jimoh supervised an investigation in which two suspects were allegedly tortured into implicating Ahmed in a murder case.

According to VDM, the suspects were allegedly compelled to claim that a man identified only as “Bode,” who was said to be residing in Germany, contacted them and paid them ₦2 million on Ahmed’s instruction to carry out the alleged murder.

The activist has repeatedly questioned why, despite the alleged central role attributed to the individual identified as Bode, investigators allegedly made no attempt to trace or extradite him from Germany before declaring Ahmed wanted. He has also demanded the release of what he describes as the original statements made by individuals identified as Bariga and Fabo, insisting that those statements would expose inconsistencies in the police investigation.

Beyond the murder case, VeryDarkMan has accused AIG Jimoh of corruption, abuse of office and compromising criminal investigations. The allegations have been widely circulated on social media but remain unproven in court, and no judicial findings have been made against the senior police officer.

Police Invitation Sparks Fresh Controversy

Following the publication of the allegations, VeryDarkMan disclosed that he received an invitation from the Lagos State Police Command requesting him to report for questioning.

Rather than honour the invitation, the activist publicly rejected it, arguing that he could not submit himself to questioning by officers operating under the same command structure as the senior officer he has accused.

Posting a copy of the invitation letter on his social media platforms, VDM alleged that the invitation was designed to intimidate him and potentially facilitate his arrest.

“Police in Lagos just sent me an invitation. This same Lagos that is controlled by AIG Jimoh Moshood. Just imagine this country. The same policeman that I have evidence against is inviting me for investigation. Jimoh Moshood wants to silence me. They have tried to get me on their side and since I have refused, they want to lure me to Lagos so they can arrest and detain me.”

The activist further claimed that unnamed individuals had urged him to tone down his allegations to prevent public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force from being undermined.

“They want me to help cover up AIG Moshood Jimoh. They said the evidence I posted would make Nigerians lose confidence in the Nigeria Police Force, so they want me to support whatever damage control they plan to put out. My answer is no. I will not join in whitewashing AIG Moshood Jimoh.”

Calls for Independent Investigation

VeryDarkMan said he remains prepared to defend every allegation he has made but insisted that any investigation must be conducted by an independent body rather than officers serving under the Lagos State Police Command.

He called on the Inspector-General of Police to constitute an independent investigative panel to examine the documentary evidence, witness accounts and materials he claims to have gathered.

The activist also announced plans to petition the National Assembly, Senate, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), maintaining that the matter extends beyond an internal police disciplinary issue.

Police Yet to Respond

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force, the Lagos State Police Command, nor AIG Moshood Jimoh had issued an official response to VeryDarkMan’s latest allegations or his decision to reject the police invitation.

The allegations remain those of the activist and have not been established by any court of law. No criminal findings have been made against AIG Moshood Jimoh in relation to the claims published by VeryDarkMan.
