Wike receives Senate’s confirmation for ministerial role

The Senate on Monday, July 31, cleared Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, for a ministerial role.
Telescope.ng reports that Wike, while presenting his Curriculum Vitae and highlighting his accomplishments, expressed his strong passion for serving Nigeria, which led him to accept the ministerial nomination.
During the screening process, the lawmakers representing Rivers State, particularly Senator Barinada Mpigi (PDP, Rivers Southeast), spoke highly of Wike’s leadership and described him as the best choice for the state.
Senator Mpigi urged the Senate to allow Wike to “take a bow and go,” emphasizing that Wike’s achievements were beyond what could be captured in his resume.
The Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, subsequently granted Wike’s request to “take a bow and leave,” acknowledging his commendable service to Rivers State.
Earlier, the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, praised Wike’s transformative work in Rivers State, expressing amazement at the positive impact of his governance. Barau questioned if Wike could replicate such achievements as a minister if confirmed, underscoring the admiration for Wike’s accomplishments.
Seen in a video shared by a tweep, Imran Muhammad, Wike arrived at the National Assembly complex with his wife, creating a sense of anticipation among observers.
