Crisis rocking APC deepens as Omisore fires back at Lukman, describes him as black sheep

The crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has deepened as Senator Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the party, labelled Mallam Salihu Lukman, the National Vice Chairman of North-West, as a loose cannon and the ‘black sheep’ of the party.

Telescope.ng reports that Omisore made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Tuesday, July 11, where he denied knowledge of disgruntled members seeking the removal of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

This development comes after Lukman accused Adamu of running the party like a garrison commander two months ago.

Lukman had also taken both Adamu and Omisore to court, alleging their failure to account for the party’s finances, refusal to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee and breach of the party’s constitution.

During the interview, Omisore referred to Lukman as a gaslighter who cries wolf where there is none. He criticized Lukman for not attending party meetings and dismissed his numerous letters as ignorant.

Omisore stated that Lukman had previously apologized for his actions and admitted to being ill-informed.

He said: “What else do you want us to do to him? Beat or kill him? When you listen to people like Lukman, you won’t know what is happening. This your Lukman that doesn’t attend meetings. He is acting like a loose cannon.”

Regarding the alleged desire to remove Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the party’s National Chairman, Omisore denied any knowledge of it and berated those secretly supporting Lukman’s philosophy, referring to them as ‘cowards.’

Omisore stated: “We are not aware of any. But know that they are cowards too. There are cowards everywhere. So it is not impossible. But the point is that out of 25 members of the NWC, only one person is the ‘black sheep.’ He is just used to doing the rantings. There is nothing special about it. This was somebody who came to apologize openly at a press conference. How can you take someone like that seriously?”
