Breaking: Akpabio defeats Yari to become Senate president
Godswill Akpabio, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Senate presidency, has been elected as President of the Senate.
The former Governor of Akwa Ibom served as a Minister for Niger Delta Affairs from 2019 to 2022, represents Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial zone.
Telescope.ng reports that as announced by the Clark of the National Assembly, the total number of 109 votes were cast. Akpabio scored 63 while his major contender scored 46.
