Ganduje clarifies stance on appointment in Tinubu’s administration

In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano, expressed his intentions regarding seeking an appointment under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which commenced yesterday.
Telescope.ng reports Ganduje clarified that while he is not actively pursuing an appointment, he would accept one if offered.
He extended his best wishes to Tinubu and vowed to pray for his success, emphasizing that Tinubu’s victory is also a victory for their shared supporters who believed in his ability to replicate his accomplishments from Lagos state and his commitment to democracy.
Ganduje further disclosed his absence from the inauguration ceremony of Abba Yusuf, the current governor of Kano state.
He explained that his decision was motivated by a desire to prevent clashes between supporters of both parties during the event.
In response to Governor Yusuf’s concerns about the massive debt of over N241 billion left by the previous administration, Ganduje acknowledged the issue and expressed empathy.
Governor Yusuf had questioned how the state government would recover from such a significant debt and lamented the insufficient revenue generated internally.
The state’s financial situation has raised concerns about the available resources for addressing the debt and ensuring sustainable development going forward.
