Adegoke’s death: Why Court sentenced Adedoyin to death by hanging

The Osun State High Court has delivered its verdict in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke, a former master’s degree student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Telescope.ng reports that Dr Ramon Adedoyin, a renowned hotel owner, has been found guilty of the crime that took place between November 5 and 7, 2021, at the Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife.
During the court proceedings, Chief Judge Adepele Ojo carefully evaluated the evidence presented and concluded that the circumstantial evidence overwhelmingly pointed to Adegoke’s killing while he was a guest at Adedoyin’s hotel.
The decision by Adedoyin to refrain from testifying in court worked against him, as it shifted the burden of proof onto his shoulders.
Justice Ojo emphasized that Adedoyin’s refusal to take the witness stand was interpreted as an acknowledgement of the murder charges filed against him by the prosecution.
This stance undermined the alibi presented on his behalf by his counsel, who claimed that the hotel owner had been in Abuja for an extended period around the time of Adegoke’s tragic demise.
The verdict in this high-profile case marks a significant step forward in the pursuit of justice for Timothy Adegoke’s untimely death, shedding light on the responsibility of the hotel owner in the matter.
The ruling serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough investigations and fair trials to ensure accountability in such cases.
