Tinubu to administer oath to new ministers on Monday

President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate the recently appointed ministers, administering their oaths of office on Monday, August 21.
Telescope.ng reports that the event is scheduled to take place in the State House conference room at 10 am, as announced by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The SGF’s office, represented by William Bassey, Director of Information, indicated that each minister is allowed to bring two guests to the ceremony.
The presidency had earlier released a list revealing the names of the new ministers and their respective portfolios.
Nyesom Wike has been appointed as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), becoming the second Southerner to head this position since 1976.
Among the appointments, Gboyega Oyetola, former governor of Osun, has been designated as the Minister of Transportation.
Geographically, the distribution of ministers reflects 10 from the northwest, six from the northeast, eight from the north-central, nine from the southwest, and five each from the southeast and south-south.
In terms of assigned portfolios, Tinubu has named Bosun Tijani the Minister of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, while Wale Edun takes on the role of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy.
The process began on July 27 when Tinubu submitted a list of 28 nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation. This was followed by a second batch of ministerial nominees sent to the Senate on August 2.
While 45 nominees received confirmation from the Senate, three nominees, including Nasir El-Rufai and Stella Okotete (Delta) and Danladi Abubakar (Taraba), faced challenges related to security clearance and were not confirmed.
