WMHD 2023: First Lady urges Nigerians to prioritise mental wellness

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has explained the need to prioritise mental wellbeing amidat the challenges of modern society.

Telescope.ng report s that Tinubu made this known on Tuesday, October 10, in her address to mark the 2023 World Mental Health Day tagged: “Mental health is a universal human right.”

She called upon citizens to foster empathy and break the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

Senator Tinubu urged individuals to pay heed to their mental health and extend support to those grappling with emotional and psychological burdens exacerbated by societal pressures, especially in the age of social media.

She highlighted the imperative of engaging the youth in open dialogues to enhance their emotional intelligence and manage expectations effectively, ultimately promoting healthier relationships and increased productivity.

As Nigeria aims for a promising future, Tinubu emphasized the collective responsibility of every citizen in building a society where mental wellness is a priority.

She rallied traditional rulers, religious leaders, NGOs, and all well-meaning Nigerians to unite with the government in supporting those in need, with the vision of creating a compassionate nation where every individual is valued and contributes to societal growth.
