Lagos Assembly receives Sanwo-Olu’s nominee for Auditor-General, sets up committee over flooding, traffic congestion in Ikoyi

The Lagos State House of Assembly has received a letter from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu nominating Adewuyi Moshood Adewale for the position of Auditor-General of the State.
Telescope.ng reports that the announcement was made during Thursday’s plenary, presided over by Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, with the Clerk of the House, Barrister Olalekan Onafeko, reading the letter.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated in the letter that the nomination was in accordance with the constitution and requested that the nominee be screened and confirmed by the lawmakers.
The Assembly will now proceed with the necessary procedures to assess the suitability of the nominee for the role.
The House has formed an ad hoc committee to address the issue of imminent flooding and traffic congestion around Park View Estate in Ikoyi. Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, who represents Eti-Osa Constituency 2, will chair the committee.
Yishawu had raised the matter under ‘Matters of Urgent Public Importance,’ highlighting concerns from residents about the ongoing land reclamation exercise affecting drainage outfalls in the estate.
The committee will investigate the potential consequences of the land reclamation, such as increased flooding and traffic challenges, and will provide recommendations to mitigate these issues.
Pending the committee’s report, the House has called for a halt to the land reclamation activities in the area.
The Assembly members expressed their support for the committee and emphasized the need to address the concerns raised by the residents of Park View Estate.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, named the committee members and emphasized the importance of their investigation in finding a solution to the problem.
