Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, has revealed that he will seek the opinions of his wife and friends before deciding whether or not to accept any appointment offer from President Bola Tinubu.

Telescope.ng reports that Wike expressed his intention during an interview with BBC Pidgin, highlighting the importance of consulting his close circle before making such a significant decision.

Although Wike clarified that President Tinubu has not approached him about any appointment, he stated that he is not too important to serve his country.

However, after eight years of serving as governor, Wike expressed his desire to take a break for the time being.

“I’m going to rest; I have worked for eight years, so I’m going to rest,” Wike said. Regarding the possibility of an appointment from Tinubu, he added, “If he asks me, the first thing I will do is ask my wife and friends what they think about it. I will also assess myself if I’m prepared. I will never do what I’m not ready for.”

Despite meeting with President Tinubu and offering him support shortly after his inauguration, Wike made it clear that he has no plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress. He emphasized that the purpose of his visit was solely to show solidarity with the president.
