Breaking: Fayemi speaks out regarding EFCC investigation into alleged N4bn fraud

Former Ekiti state governor and ex-chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi, has denied being under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N4bn fraud.
Telescope.ng reports that in a statement released on Friday by Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, Head of the Fayemi Media Office in Abuja, it was clarified that during Fayemi’s visit to the EFCC, no such allegation was raised during his conversation with the agency’s officials.
The statement clarified that the purpose of Fayemi’s visit to the EFCC office in Ilorin, Kwara State was to address a frivolous petition from a group aiming to tarnish his reputation.
The statement read: “We firmly believe that Fayemi’s visit has provided answers to the agency’s inquiries regarding the petition. However, should there be a need for further clarification, Fayemi stands ready to cooperate fully.”
Contrary to rumours circulating about a purported N4bn fraud case against Fayemi, the statement emphasized that no such allegations were made during the conversation with the EFCC.
The petition in question was deemed to be from a faceless group called the Ekiti Patriotic Coalition, suspected to be a front for certain anti-Fayemi politicians seeking to tarnish his image.
The statement highlighted Fayemi’s dedicated service to the people of Ekiti State during his tenure as governor.
He was known for his principled leadership, commitment to citizen welfare, and notable advancements in infrastructure development and attracting valuable investment opportunities to the state.
It concluded by affirming Fayemi’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and expressing confidence that the truth will ultimately prevail.
