Ekiti election: APC wins 15 LGAs, PDP 1, SDP Zero

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the ongoing governorship election in 15 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Ekiti state

Telescope.ng reports that according to results announced at the LGA collation centres, Abiodun Oyebanji of the APC won in Ikere, Emure, Ekiti South West, Ekiti West, Oye, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ikole, Ido-Osi and Ise/Orun LGAs.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Bisi Kolawole was announced winner in Efon Alaye LGA, while Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) could not win a single LGA.

The final results of the election would be announced at the state collation center in Ado Ekiti, capital of the state.

Meanwhile, Telescope.ng had previously reported that there was wild jubilation in the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state in the early hours of Sunday, June 19, when the results of Saturday’s governorship election showed that the candidate of the party, Biodun Oyebanji, trounced the 15 other candidates that partook in the exercise.

It was reported that Oyebanji, who is the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, won in 15 out of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state. He polled 187,057 votes.

However, his closest challenger, Segun Oni, of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), scored 82,211 votes while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bisi Kolawole, scored 67,457 votes. Kolawole won his LGA, Efon, where he scored 6,303 to beat APC’s 4,012 and SDP’s 339 votes.
