Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been hospitalised following a road traffic accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on Monday in the Makun area, just before the Danco Filling Station and ahead of the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis. Joshua was travelling in a Lexus SUV when the vehicle reportedly collided with a stationary truck.
Eyewitnesses said the convoy consisted of two vehicles, with Joshua seated at the rear of the Lexus. He reportedly sustained minor injuries, while two other occupants of the vehicle were confirmed dead at the scene. Passers-by and emergency responders were said to have assisted in rescue efforts before the injured were evacuated.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the accident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, who said Joshua and other injured persons were rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
According to the police, investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
