Tinubu Congratulates Oyebamiji on Emergence as Osun APC Governorship Candidate
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Osun State ahead of the 2026 election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the President commended the Osun APC for what he described as a strong display of unity and reconciliation that characterised the party’s primary election, which was conducted through affirmation.
President Tinubu also praised other governorship aspirants who stepped down in support of Oyebamiji, noting that their actions demonstrated party loyalty and commitment to the ideals of the APC.
He urged the party’s candidate to be magnanimous in victory by carrying along all party leaders and former aspirants, stressing the need for inclusivity and cohesion as the party prepares for the 2026 governorship contest.
“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun,” the President said, calling on APC members in the state to remain focused, united, and determined.
According to the statement, the APC primary election was held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, and was chaired by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, with delegates unanimously affirming Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate.
The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
