Dele Alake, the minister of solid minerals from Nigeria, has successfully negotiated an exciting opportunity for mining professionals in his country.

Telescope.ng gathered that during a visit to Perth, Australia, Alake met with Hon. Bill Johnston, the Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Energy, Corrective Services, and Industrial Relations of Western Australia.

Alake expressed admiration for Australia’s advancements in the mineral development sector and proposed a collaboration that would allow Nigerian professionals to benefit from Australian expertise.

Nigeria boasts vast deposits of valuable minerals such as lithium, gold, coal, lead, zinc, baryte, and iron ore.

In his proposal, Alake suggested a program that would enable Nigerian mining experts to study modern mining technologies and practices in Western Australia with the full support of the Australian government.

Johnston welcomed the proposal and pledged support for knowledge transfer and skills development between the two nations.

He urged Alake to formalize the request so they could work together to achieve this goal.

This promising partnership aims to not only enhance the skills of Nigerian mining professionals but also foster closer relations between Nigeria and Australia, with the potential for further cooperation in developing the mining sector in Africa.

The Nigerian delegation, including Ambassador Anderson Madubike, Mrs. Mercy Clement, Mr. Martins Imonitie, Dr. Mary Ogbe, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, Engr. Nkom Obadiah, and Mrs. Chinemerem Nwaka, were present during this significant meeting.
